NBA Power Rankings For April 9-April 15
1) Golden State Warriors (66-15): Last Week’s Ranking: 1
With the league’s best regular season record, there’s no debating that Golden State should be number one in the NBA power rankings.
2) Atlanta Hawks (60-21): Last Week’s Ranking: 2
With the first 60-win season in franchise history, the Atlanta Hawks have taken the eastern conference by storm this year.
3) L.A. Clippers (56-26): Last Week’s Ranking: 4.
The red hot Clippers have put together seven consecutive wins which has them poised for a strong playoff run.
4) San Antonio Spurs (55-26): Last Week’s Ranking: 5
San Antonio’s eleven game winning streak has helped the Spurs keep pace in the super competitive western conference.
5) Houston Rockets (55-26): Last Week’s Ranking: 3
Rising star James Harden has made a strong case for league MVP this year.
6) Memphis Grizzles (54-27): Last Week’s Ranking: 7
The Grizzlies have looked pretty mediocre lately with just four wins in their last ten games.
7) Cleveland Cavaliers (52-29): Last Week’s Ranking: 6
Cleveland has locked up the number two seed in the eastern conference playoff race.
8) Portland Trailblazers (51-30): Last Week’s Ranking: 8
Portland’s current three game losing streak is certainly not a good look heading into postseason play.
9) Chicago Bulls (49-32: Last Week’s Ranking: 9
Oft-injured Bulls’ point guard Derrick Rose has finally gotten healthy in time for the playoffs.
10) Dallas Mavericks (49-32): Last Week’s Ranking: 10
The Mavs have looked pretty pedestrian lately which probably won’t cut it in the deep western conference playoff race.
11) Toronto Raptors (48-33): Last Week’s Ranking: 11
For the second year in a row, Toronto will have home court advantage in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
12) Washington Wizards (46-35): Last Week’s Ranking: 12
It’s been an uneven year for the Wizards, but they have qualified for the playoffs for the second consecutive season.
13) New Orleans Pelicans (44-37): Last Week’s Ranking: 13
The Pelicans need a win or an Oklahoma City loss on the final day of the regular season to qualify for the playoffs.
14) Oklahoma City Thunder (44-37): Last Week’s Ranking: 14
OKC no longer controls their own playoff destiny as the Thunder head into the final game of the regular season.
15) Milwaukee Bucks (41-40): Last Week’s Ranking: 17
Riding a three game winning streak, Jason Kidd has the Bucks looking strong heading into the playoffs.
16) Boston Celtics (39-42): Last Week’s Ranking: 19
Thanks to a late season surge, Boston makes an improbable return to the playoffs.
17) Indiana Pacers (38-43): Last Week’s Ranking: 21
Returning to the lineup following his gruesome leg injury, Paul George has helped Indiana to a six game winning streak.
18) Phoenix Suns (39-43): Last Week’s Ranking: 15
With a five game losing streak, the Suns end their season on a very sour note.
19) Utah Jazz (38-43): Last Week’s Ranking: 18
While they still have plenty of room for improvement, it’s been an encouraging season for the Utah Jazz.
20) Brooklyn Nets (37-44): Last Week’s Ranking: 16
Brooklyn will need a win and an Indiana loss on the final day of the regular season to qualify for the playoffs.
21) Miami Heat (36-45): Last Week’s Ranking: 20
The defending conference champions will not even qualify for this year’s postseason.
22) Charlotte Hornets (33-48): Last Week’s Ranking: 22
Missing the playoffs due to their recent five game losing streak has Hornets’ owner Michael Jordan beside himself.
23) Detroit Pistons (31-50): Last Week’s Ranking: 23
As expected, the rebuilding Pistons endured a brutal 2014-’15 season.
24) Denver Nuggets (30-51): Last Week’s Ranking: 25
There hasn’t been a whole lot to cheer about for Nuggets’ fans this year.
25) Sacramento Kings (28-53): Last Week’s Ranking: 24
With just two wins in their last ten games, the end of the season can’t come soon enough in Sacramento.
26) Orlando Magic (25-56): Last Week’s Ranking: 26
A three game losing streak including a loss to the pathetic Knicks tells me just how bad this season has been for Orlando.
27) L.A. Lakers (21-60): Last Week’s Ranking: 27
The rebuilding Lakers have now set a new franchise record for most losses in a season.
28) Philadelphia 76’ers (18-63): Last Week’s Ranking: 28
A recent nine game losing streak may have Nerlens Noel second guessing his decision to leave the University of Kentucky.
29) New York Knicks (17-64): Last Week’s Ranking: 30
A recent two game winning streak may actually hurt New York’s chances of landing the number one pick in the NBA draft.
30) Minnesota Timberwolves (16-65): Last Week’s Ranking: 29
Minnesota’s eleven game losing slide is the longest current losing streak in the NBA. The T-Wolves’ dedication to ineptitude has earned them sole possession of last place in the final edition of this year’s NBA power rankings.
